What does it mean to be God's treasure?
You may be reading this because someone from New Life Church has given you one of the cards pictured here. So what is it all about?
Hide and seek: Did you ever play hide and seek when you were a child? Did you have fun looking for a parent that hid themselves well, but not so well that they couldn't be found?
It is the same with God. He gives us clues to find him. He does not hide himself from us, but for us.
Have you ever questioned events in your life and wondered where was God? Have you ever met a Christian that has spoken about “finding God” and having their life changed?
Who is Jesus? The reason we can find God is because of Jesus, but who is he? The Bible says that Jesus is the image of the invisible God, i.e. if you want to know what God is like, have a good look at Jesus.
Jesus was God in human form. We can see from the way he thought, acted and related to people that he was more than just a man. People were often overwhelmed when they met Jesus because he brought miraculous answers to their lives, including healing, hope, purpose, love, joy and acceptance.
You can read for yourself in the Bible how he healed diseases, blindness, deafness, crippled limbs and so much more.
Heaven on earth: Heaven is described in the Bible as a place where there is no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. Jesus taught his followers to pray and bring the reality of heaven to people's lives here on earth. You can read stories of how Jesus has changed the lives of people who live in Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells.
People that followed Jesus also had incredible tangible encounters with his love and supernatural presence. Many of these accounts are recorded in the Bible.
Through his life, death on the cross and resurrection Jesus has dealt with all the barriers between us and God, meaning that God is no longer remote but accessible to all of us. We just need to reach out to him.
How can I reach out and find God? You may have already experienced God’s goodness through healing or feeling his love and presence if you were prayed for by someone in New Life Church or by another Christian. This is evidence that God cares about you and an encouragement to reach out and find him. Just one of the many clues he will bring into your life to show He is there.
If you are interested in finding out whether God exists, knows who you are and cares about you, why not try one or more of the following:
Speak to him being open and honest, ask God to show himself to you, to show you that he is real.
Read the Bible to find out who Jesus is. Start in the New Testament with the book of Mark.
